Black Ridge Business Optimization founder — from technician to operator
Founder
Operator, not consultant
Founder Story

He didn't start as a consultant. He started as a technician.

The founder built a service business from the ground up and personally performed thousands of successful repairs. As the company grew, he took ownership of every department inside the business — from dispatch and pricing to hiring, marketing, and financial management.

Eventually he built and sold a seven-figure service business. Today he applies the same diagnostic mindset used to solve complex mechanical problems toward diagnosing business problems.

Every business has constraints. The goal is identifying the real one — not treating symptoms.

Why Businesses Stop Growing

Revenue plateaus rarely mean the market is out of room.

They usually mean the operating model has reached the limit of what the current systems, pricing, and decisions can support.

01

The owner is the constraint.

Every decision routes through one person. Capacity flattens. Quality suffers when attention is split.

02

Pricing is inherited, not engineered.

Rates were set years ago and quietly indexed to competitors. Gross margin leaks a few points every year.

03

Operations run on memory, not systems.

Dispatch, quoting, and follow-up live in the heads of two or three people. Nothing scales without them.

04

The numbers describe the past, not the future.

P&L arrives 30 days late. Job-level profitability is unknown. Decisions are made on feel.

Common Hidden Profit Opportunities

We don't coach businesses. We diagnose them.

Most owners already have more revenue available inside their current business than they realize. Our job is finding it.

01

Pricing architecture

Rebuild rate cards, minimums, and after-hours multipliers to reflect real cost-to-serve.

02

Labor efficiency

Billable hours, callback rates, and route density as measured, managed inputs.

03

Quote-to-close discipline

Standardized estimating, follow-up cadence, and win-rate reporting.

04

Vendor and parts margin

Renegotiated terms, tiered mark-up, and inventory turn benchmarks.

05

Dispatch and scheduling

Fewer wasted trucks, less windshield time, higher completed jobs per day.

06

Financial visibility

Job costing, weekly cash rhythm, and department-level P&Ls owners actually read.

Business Opportunity Report

Written, prioritized, and quantified.

The report is a private diagnostic document. It names the constraint, lists prioritized findings across pricing, operations, and financials, and estimates the financial impact of each opportunity.

  • Executive summary and identified constraint
  • Prioritized opportunities with estimated impact
  • Operational, pricing, and financial findings
  • Recommended sequence — what to do first, second, third

No. We diagnose businesses and, when it makes sense, we help implement. This is operating work grounded in real numbers — not weekly accountability calls.

Service-based businesses between roughly $250,000 and $10 million in annual revenue. We work best where the owner is still close to the operation.
